Imagine the world's smartest business person (also one of the richest) and the world's richest person (and smartest investors) in a tag team fight against serious world issues.
Check out these interesting articles on Warren Buffet's 30,000,000,000 (yes that's right) donation to the Bill and Melinda Gates Fund. Read it here and here.
I thought it was pretty interesting. These guys must believe that to whom has been given much, much is required.
What would you, or could you, do with that amount of money?
Would you know where to start?
Could you even hack the responsibility?
MORE IMPORTANT: in all appropriateness and proportions to your gifts and net wroth, how are you stewarding your influence and affluence?

Certainly, the Gates Foundation does a lot of good work. But, in reference to your question about the stewardship of influence, it is worth keeping in mind that some of the 'charity' produced by the foundation is hardly charitable.

Antecedent to his transferring shares to Gates, Buffet was a fiscal supporter of Planned Parenthood, America's cheif aborter.
eric,
nice to know you've checked out the blog.
I'm not necessarily a supporter of Gates/Buffet. However, I did think it was definitely of interest that these 2 men with incredible worth would choose generousity in how they would use both their remaining wealth (Buffet/Gates) and time/life (Gates). That in their generousity their moral angles are evident is not surprising to me. I didn't expect them to have a Christ-like conscious.
However, I was challenged and hope others will be from their recent choice. I know a few selfish Christians, some that rarely give anywhere - charity, friends in need, and of course the church. And most people who give little when they make little give even less when they make more. The challenge to me reminded me of the generousity Jesus teaches in the sciptures and the support the whole NT (and OT) teach towards supporting the church's mission.
Of course, if a follower of Christ lives generously, I'd hope it would be towards both godly causes and the general needs in their own community or circle of friends as Jesus modeled.
Thanks for letting readers know where some of their money does go to. I wasn't aware of those donations. I was aware of some recent donations to worth while causes.
