I was thinking about opting out of the leadership summit this summer. Just wanted a break from the conference (or conferences in general), especially since I'm suppose to be 1-2 others in 2009 (this one and this one). But Willow messed it up since there's a few speakers I'd be interested in hearing.
Tim Keller - I just love how he explains the gospel, how he views mission and church leadership with such a biblical view and deep dependency on God. He pastors Redeemer in NYC. Watch him here.
Dave Gibbons - I've never heard him speak, but he's recently been known for seeing his 4,000 people church as NOT the way of doing church and moving more towards verges, groups of 30-300. He's ministered in LA, India, Bangkok, Mexico - a pretty diverse variety, which demonstrates God's grace breaking down all cultural boundaries. He pastors Newsong church in LA
Bono (he doesn't need a link) - yes, he's back this year letting us know how he's seen churches getting involved with the AIDS crisis in Africa. Should be interesting.
On the side... Patrick Lencioni - one of the most authentic business writers I've read and listened to (and I believe he follows Jesus)
... David Gergen - not much to this guy, but every time I hear him on CNN on politics or national issues he always seems smart, level headed, and sincere - I wonder what he'll have to share.
SO: this does not mean I'm going... I might stick to my break from it. BUT, if you haven't gone, you might want to check it out... and with the latest news of speakers, I just might go.
