And now kids...

This morning I had the privilege of helping parents dedicate their child to God. I know there's nothing supernatural about this act in the ceremony part itself, but it is a great way for parents to publicly commit themselves and their home to God and promise to do their best to create an environment where a child can grow to discover Jesus and hopefully follow, love and serve him. The supernatural part is the belief that God will answer their prayers and honor their effort in building an environment for spiritual growth.

The cool thing about this morning was that it was a couple who's been with our church since we started from scratch. They we're part of the initial 8 people - so that's from scratch. Enzo and Louise were not married when we 1st started, got married in that year, and we're right into everything we did: free car washes, set-up, music, special nights, groups, etc. Though I didn't highlight that this morning, this afternoon I thought of how Lucas (their son) has already been early for set-up on a Sunday. How sometimes Louise will come later while Enzo has arrived early to practice. How at Christmas Louise sang while her mom came to church with her to take care of Lucas. So Lucas is already getting his fill of serving. He's not the only one, I can name several from ages 0-10.

Another cool thing about this morning is to see the growth in our church. Becoming parents is a big deal and it changes you. Lots of couples at Westside that came in year 1 or 2 are becoming parents - and that has been changing us too. It's great to see others that are single or without kids interact with the kids (some of our most dedicated volunteers in kids ministry are single)

Last thing: Lucas grabbed my glassed right off during the prayer... and even though I managed to get them back and keep praying, his wet hand gently went all over my face and ears. This was a moment for the both of us!
