Reflecting on humility, I came across an interesting story about Solomon.
1 Kings 3 we see Solomon taking on the kingship of Israel, he's already building the temple and the wall around Jerusalem, in political relationship with other nations, AND YET... we read about him asking God for wisdom to be a good King.
He admits he can't fulfill his duties in his own capacity, and needs God's divine wisdom to help him govern. (1 Kings 3:7-9)
He refers to himself as a little child.... Well in comparison to God we all are, and therefore are in constant need to his guidance, strength, and wisdom to fulfill any calling or vocation he gives to us.
Solomon is especially asking for wisdom b/c he's leading ISRAEL, God's people. Regardless of which local church or part of the church you're in, like Israel (then), the church (now) is part of God's grand purposes. God is willing to give you and I wisdom in our contribution to his great purposes.
I hope I will always be humble enough to ask God for help!!
Thanks Solomon, for the example of humility in your grand responsibilities.
