forgiveness on prime time

I watch HEROES (since season 1), and I started watching 24 in season 6. Both these 2 shows had themes of forgiveness and redemption the last 2 weeks.

HEROES
Silar, a villain turned good guy (we think) who's recently discovered his need for love and belonging we're the cause of his evil actions. He's character has been changing as a result.
He recently had an encounter with a girl who's father he killed. She hates him and wants him dead. Face to face, he took all the pain she could give him (she has the ability to throw electricity, and he has the ability to heal himself - among many other abilities, that's what heroes is about). Over and over he took her attacks, almost burning him to a crisp, as he invites her to let it all out on him - all her pain, anger, sorrow, and grief. In the end she asked him to kill her b/c of all the pain she just put on him. Silar says, I forgive you, and you need to forgive yourself.
Her ability (electricity) was killing her on the inside - she could not take it. He was able to take it from her, to absorb it.
She was then set free!! Her pain was gone. She was forgiven, and she was able to forgive herself.

24
Jack Bauer is helping 14 kids get to an American Embassy to escape from the torment of their country. The officials will only let them in if Jack turns himself 1st (he's wanted from the US government). The only way to save the kids is to give himself in. He does, and the kids are on a helicopter to freedom, although, Jack, when he lands will be in custody.

Forgiveness, Redemption. Powerful themes throughout the scriptures. Both are the longing of the human life. The needed escape towards freedom of many in our world (some physically). Jesus offers both (redemption and forgiveness) - fully, freely, powerfully, effectively.

He forgives, redeems, and frees people to live life to the fullest.
