Obama's Speech Writing

I like learning about communicating. I need to keep learning about it.

Good teaching has helped shape and change my life.

Teaching/preaching is different from just communicating ideas - you have a text, a compass, and content in the scriptures. But putting it together always requires work. I often get stuck in what to leave in or out. What people need to do as result of what the scriptures say. How to help people focus on the main idea. This is all really hard for me, even though I love doing it, and enjoy the process (harder) and the delivery (easier if the process went well). Some weeks there's pain and strain, but still joy at the end of the journey.

Now that the disclaimer is over about the difference b/w speeches and preaching, here's an interesting look into Obama's speech prep. Regardless of where people stand on him politically, he's a great orator.
