It was a different labor day week-end for me. I was actually out of town. Forced to leave the city because of a family wedding. As you can see I have serious problems feeling normal about not being around while my church community has a gathering, ok, I have issues. It's just tough since we're still a fairly new church.
Anyways, here's some highlights.
- staying at my twin brother's house, having the kids/cousins play an immense amount of hours together
- a great family BBQ on Monday with my immediate family (mom, brothers and sisters, their families) - we rarely get to do this outside of Christmas, so it was really great.
- honoring my cousin on her new journey in marriage: Elizabeth is my 1st cousin (only daughter of my Dad's only brother); she married a nice guy named Daniel
- some cool traditions during the wedding: Daniel comes from a Jewish family so they crushed a glass wrapped in a towel just before the nuptial kiss; the grandfather broke bread at the beginning of the dinner
- a good but short conversation with my cousin Joe about the ups and downs of church planting: he's planting THE STORY in Sarnia - pray for them, they have a great future ahead of them.
- visiting with Franca's sister's family
- the opportunity to thank Christ Life Center in person for sending a mission team to Westside this summer; was able to be there in person b/c I served with their worship band on Sunday AM
- affirming that though once and a while it's nice to be in a more traditional church setting (though CLC is a really good contemporary church that is authentically trying to reach their community, and they do it with passion and excellence), I love the casual feel and atmosphere we're developing at Westside
- driving long distance with Franca and the kids - it's always lots of fun
AND NOW THE FALL BEGINS!!!!!!!
