changes all around us

CHURCH: had a meeting with our Westside core tonight to discuss our assumptions in starting the church (culture, growth, etc) and changes we should make for our future (I'll go into that another day); but my wife and I were stuck at how incredibly flexible our community is with change for sake of fulfilling our mission... they are really great. EG. we're all taking a Sabbath rest from regular activity (sunday gatherings, serving, mid-week groups, etc) for 4 weeks starting Setp. 10 and doing CHURCH @ HOME for those weeks on the Sunday. This is just give everyone a break since 80% of us are involved. The response was very so affirming. I love my community and their commitment to change for sake of doing mission well.

HOME: my 5 year old starts Kindergarden tomorrow. Crazy. I remember when he was born, helped with his 1st bath in the hospital,... wrote down all the words he knew and learned in a given month,... teaching him to ride a bike...; how I saw him start walking from couch to couch, wall to wall, door way to door way - and now out the door and onto a school bus!! Lots of changes.

Julia (2 year old) got some hand-me-down BARBIE toys; well she's been on her cel phone most of the afternoon, and made sure to put make up on about 8x today. Whould anyone bother to actually pay to mess up their kids this way, messing them up for free is just as bad.

lots more changes to come... this was just a few in the same day
