technology break/sabbath:
social networks are taking over the world... you feel like if you're not part of one or another you're either out of touch or irrelevant. I
m often tempted to be part of lots of things, be connected to lots of people, in the hopes that those connections will produce some kind of result - even a godly result like life transformation or seeing people interested in Jesus.
here's one guy who's just made a serious decision to get OFF facebook, twitter, and blogging (at least temporarily); plus he will reduce his travel by 50-70%; WHY? b/c he sees his behavior defining his values and they aren't the definition he wants.

a commitment to evangelism:
i helped start a church with the primary reason that I believed in my core that every person needs to hear the gospel story and be invited to follow Jesus; our mission is literally to connect people to Christ... yet as I see the other issues we've had to deal with - being sustainable, growing people spiritually, leading volunteers - i can't help feel like our commitment to evangelism slips and needs to be jolted very often - like vision, it leaks.
so reading Dan Kimball's simple reminder that outside of prayer, evangelism is the priority, it was a fresh wind in my spirit that I need often.
