good and bad are invited...

In Jesus' story about a King (like God) who invites everyone to the party there's this one part that jumps out:
So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. (Matthew 22:10)

What a great stretch for many people who think the church is supposed to be filled with perfect people.

Here's some insight from Scot McKnight in his recent Living the Jesus Creed:
Jesus comes with the church, and the church comes with Jesus.
Jesus who attracts us is the only one who overtly claims that he invites imperfect people to his table. If we expect the church to house only perfect people, perhaps we've come to the wrong table! Put differently, perhaps our problem is that we love our idea of the church and what it ought to be rather than the reality of the church and what it is.

How do you react to Jesus in Matthew 22:10 and McKnight in this quote?
