I overcame

k, this is serious (not life and death serious), but here's the run down.

been trying real hard to stay off deserts, at least 5-6 days of the week (I needed it, and while some people I know are observing lent, I thought, why not get serious about it now - it was kind of a combined decision, ask me later)

ready?

I'm at my aunt's house tonight for supper... and then... she pulls it out... too good to be true... an incredible STRAWBERRY CREAM PIE!! I could not believe it. I thought, maybe I'll exchange Sunday for Wednesday. Then, I thought, it was a special occasion - my brother dropped into town for 2 hours. I resisted.

I actually clinched my fist under the table 3x to withstand the pressure. You don't understand how good it looked.

But I overcame. I feel good. Someone affirm me. (ha)

That's it.

Any tips on discipline, send them my way.

Proud of you Dave! I know the fist clenching technique..use it often..sigh..whenever anyone serves 'gluten filled' cake. I feel for you.
And no matter how you would have rationalized switching days..sunday will never fall on a wednesday lol.

Fist clenching is definitely a technique I've used countless times. (That and lip-biting!!) Good for you Dave, I know how good Aunt Jo's desserts are. That was DISCIPLINE at its finest.

could you share about the technique? Not aware of it. Thanks!

you can adapt the technique to lip biting, leg pinching, or walking it off - whatever helps you stay disciplined in your decision to refrain.
