Assumptions and Faith

Happen to have 2 sample chapters of Mark Batterson's, Wild Goose Chase in my office... here's some good quotes.

The more faith you have, the less assumptions you make.

Faith is not logical. But it’s not illogical either. Faith is theo-logical. It does not ignore reality, it just adds God into the equation.

This insight struck me, I'll paraphrase: We can live lives doing the best we can. Or we can pray and live in dependence on God and our best is no longer the limit. He is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine.

Prayer is one way we overcome our assumptions and escape our space-time limitations.

Lately as our church community has been growing in the area of prayer there’s been a greater freedom from the obstacles and assumptions we place on ourselves. Here are some we've often assumed: we don’t have a building,… we don’t have enough resources,… this person will never come to Christ,… our community will never come to this. As I've been growing more in prayer, the assumptions are getting less of my head space!!
