Power of Example (Clinton)

Tonight President Clinton endorsed Obama for president at the democratic convention. I'm not into politics too much, but I do like speeches and Clinton is a great orator.

His speech was focused, just 1 question:
who can lead America well at home and rebuild it's leadership around the world?

Clinton kept coming back to the 2 main ideas in this question.

Here was my favorite line of the speech:
"what we need most now is the power of example not the example of power."
(paraphrased)

(OK, so this comes from a guy that many still can't swallow b/c of his former affair. But regardless, this is strong line.)

How often do you or I focus on being an example of power. We're so concerned with people seeing us as tough or confident, or strong. We're worried about people doing what we say. We want to be noticed as leaders.
Unfortunately the church's history has been littered with examples of power when they should have been powerful examples.

We often forget that our example has power and influence. We can show that we're in charge, or demonstrate the values we want to see in others. We can force people to change, or be the change we long to see expressed.

May you and I be the kind of people who people can follow, not because of our positions or titles, but because of who we are and what God is making us to be.

May our lives be powerful examples!!
