Trust (Community Prayer)

Westside promotes a monthly community prayer... although it's never the whole community in one evening, it's still about people growing in prayer and encountering God through prayer.

Last night the theme of TRUST came up.
We reflected on Matt. 14:22-33 (Peter/Jesus walking on water) and simply asked what is says about God/Jesus, yourself, how it leads you to prayer, and what you will do tomorrow differently.
(read Cindy's response here)

Overwhelming, TRUST in God came through our prayerful reflection.
The sense that we're not just interested in what God tells us, but in realizing we can trust him, no matter what he tells us. He's trustable(?!?), officially that would be trustworthy.

So we prayed about becoming people who can trust God more, b/c we can.
We also rediscovered that Jesus actually wants to lead us when we ask him.
... that Jesus had a healthy rhythm of prayer in the middle of his routine
... that most people have fears (like the disciples had in the boat during the storm)
... that Peter's cry, Lord, save me, is a common cry of the human heart, longing to be rescued and redeemed.

We also prayed for Westside...
... for more volunteers in KidsQuest as it's been growing a lot the last few months
... for a potential KidsQuest director we're looking to hire 1/3 time this year
... for genuine opportunities to bless people on our Elevation tour
Monthly, we continually pray that God continues to transform into the kind of people that love him and others...

Finally, we prayed for personal requests, real genuine ones:
- God tell me what you want from me in this next big step
- God lead me to serve you in a way that fulfills your plans
- God give us discernment to see in people what you see
(I love these kinds of requests... they are very other focused)
