lots of stuff going on...

It was a FULL week-end with lots of fun, meaningful moments, and new challenges.

My wife and I hosted our K-6 KidsQuest kids over for pizza and tobogganing. It was a blast, and the kids were great and also had fun, not to mention some of the parents who stayed. I like this kind of stuff, makes me feel like we're part of a community, not just an organization.

The Gathering Cafe has a big night on Saturday, welcoming Sebastian Demrey and Band to the stage. They put on an amazing concert and proved to be incredible people. Our volunteers rocked, we had record #'s in this newer location (about 75), and it was great mix of people. I was tired going into it, but energized throughout the night.

Westside had a full morning and hit a record # in our nursery (and a good number in our gathering). We're not a large church, but a church consistently becoming the kind of community God is shaping us to become (at least I hope and pray so). This last week-end had a great energy to it. God spoke and it seemed like many encountered him as we gathered. That's the point right. That each time we gather, God is worshiped, we're changed, we fulfill our role as worshipers and witnesses. That's the measure of success for me. Are we who we're meant to be (and become). Lot's more room for growth, but this week was a nice encouragement. Our challenges these days (despite finding an alternate space) is sustaining our growing kids community. Our ratio is 2:1 (adult:child) so you can imagine the volunteer challenge with many of our adults being parents of 2-3 kids. It's a great challenge to have, and the ideas are rolling in, but I trust with prayer and work we'll grow in this season. One of our plans is hiring a 1/3 time KidsQuest Leader, among more internal growth that's happening within our community.

On top of that, my 1999 Nissan Altima had it's last breath this week-end and the shop called me this morning to tell me it can't be revived. We're proud of this car, we used it for 160,000KM... it died at 236K. It had low maintenance for the 6 1/2 years we've had it, and now it lays to rest. BUT, that leaves me with no car until I find a good one.

So it's been a great week-end, a full week, and one with lots of challenges. So I'm depending lots on God this week.

I actually picked up a car yesterday. It all came together after a few days.
