When 4 schools in the U.S. and one in our home town of Montreal experience violence as extreme as 6 people dying from gun shots (this happening in Chicago) I am reminded that we don't live in a world of peace.
I want to make a difference, I want to see my world changed, I try to create and participate in environments (here and here) that influence change, but I need to keep in mind that only God creates lasting change in people. And only God will one day bring the whole world to rights.
I realize that good works are needed, and in many ways paint pictures of God's love and grace; we are God's living and local presence. But something deeper is needed, something only the gospel message can do - and that is transform the human heart.
I can only pray and rely on God for that.
