mature character

The immature character asks life to meet his demands. But the mature character meets the demands of life.

One of the better quotes in Integrity (Henry Cloud), where he emphasizes that a person who is growing learns that he/she must make shifts to meet the vision they have for their life.
This is making me think lots about my own life and the shifts I'm continually prompted to make to be the kind of parent, husband, friend, or leader I hope to be. Also makes me think lots about our church leadership/volunteers - what shifts do we need to keep making to fulfill the vision before us. It's not enough to settle, arrive, coast. I want to keep asking the vision/mission question so I keep getting challenged to make the necessary shifts and changes to meet the demands of being who God wants us/me to be.
