Loved community prayer tonight. Smaller group, but a real meaningful time.
Matt. 6:25-34 helped shape our prayer tonight.
About us: we're busy, worried, dependent on stuff and security BUT still so valued by God.
About God: he clothes and feeds us, is concerned about our needs; we can trust him with everything and anything
About prayer: let our prayers be less about all our needs* and more about God's kingdom and purposes, and trust that he'll take care of the other stuff
*the scriptures (obviously Jesus) actually let us know that we can bring any request/needs to God, but I think this text helps us trust that we are not dependent on those things but on God.
Some of the stuff we prayed about:
Westside's needs - new small group leaders/hosts, a new space, set-up/sound/creative volunteers, etc
Westside people - for some of the newer people coming to our gatherings lately - longing for them to encounter God deeply; for all of us become the kind of people God desires us to be; friends from work/neighbors, family
Personal needs
Other: our friend Sophie who is struggling in the hospital these days
To Paul, Chris, and Shauna (and Franca upstairs with Julia)... great praying with you.
