27 people volunteered today for 5-7 hours in the hot sun serving about 250 people (I think, the numbers are not in) at my church's Community BBQ. People cooked, served food, monitored air bouncers, painted faces, guided kids through crafts, set-up tents, or cleaned up. Many of them served with little or no breaks. Our team leaders set up their areas so well things worked great. I loved seeing our volunteers on the way out; they were tired, and ready for a nap, but they looked happy to have served.
This is Westside's largest yearly event; our team and volunteers pulled it off AND made a huge difference in people people's lives.
