neighbors & my community

Just last night was a great reminder of the people in my neighborhood.

After work, I went to soccer, where I coach my son's team... hung out with 6 year olds, chatted with their parents...
... came home to eat a late supper that got delayed 20 min. because 2 neighbors came into my backyard to chat a little about stuff
... ate quickly so I could walk over to another neighbor's place to wish him a great month long vacation
... ran back home to make coffee for whoever requested, went back and spent the remainder of the evening until dark in front of their steps - felt like the urban front porch scenario but only in the suburbs
... finally got inside about 10:30 and realized I spent 5 hours interacting with people in my community

Was it tiring? a little (just a little). Did it take away from a few things I had planned to do that evening? sure (I didn't get to water my plants, and stayed up longer to read). Did some of it take a little intention or decision? I guess so.

BUT, it was a blast and very meaningful.
