nutella: a fine substitute

My normal breakfast is 2 toasts with peanut butter and jelly or jam.
We refrain from buying Nutella - that incredible chocolate hazelnut spread that Italians, and the rest of the world love - because our family would finish it in 2 days!!
Grocery shopping alone - a terrible thing to do as a man - me anyways... I convinced my self that Nutella would be a good purchase since my brother's family was coming into town next week (ya sure).

BUT.... after checking the nutrient panel I learned that Nutella gives me less calories than Peanut butter and jam on the same toast. Go figure.

Peanut butter (90 cal/table spoon) & Jam (25-50 cal/TBSP) = 115-140 cal.

Nutella............................. 100 cal/TBSP

Not sure about the rest of the ingredients (good note, it doesn't have hydrogenated oil), but for this one purchase... I'm finishing the jar!!

A fine substitute.

If anyone has proof to disprove my theory, I'm open to learning.

Hey Dave,

You are correct. You can find out all you need/want to know about Nutella at: www.nutellausa.com

I believe they also say there is a cup of skim milk in each jar.....

If you want a good nutella cookie recipe .... just ask!!

Wow, even a cup of skim milk in each jar.

I'll pass on the recipe. I probably don't need more reasons to buy nutella, but thanks anyways.

Forgive me Dave, it's actually 1 and 3/4 cup of skim milk in each 750 g jar. Now that's worth the switch in my books....

unless you start getting zits - which can be as bad as gaining weight!
(i.e. my indulgence into Nutella this week has brought a few 'things' to the surface; sorry for the graphic details..)
