reflection: psalm 119:17-24

reading through this psalm daily (trying to); today...

"...open my eyes to see the wonderful things in your law..."
PRAYER: I miss out on lots of deep, rich, significant, loving things in the scriptures; I need my eyes openned often to see them in the text/story

"...my soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times..."
DESIRE: where's my longing (want, desire, putting value to something) for the scriptures; am I consumed by it (at the top of my wish list, priorities); is my being - soul - taken up with this longing?

"though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees... they are my counsellor" (v.23-24)
FOUNDATION/ADVICE: in the middle of a culture that has it's own agenda and priorities, it's easy to get knocked down for how we make decisions, what we base our career, ministry, or life on, etc.. I want to find direction from the scriptures; will this text/story guide my affairs and life?

(for a great view on living the scriptures and finding wisdom in them go here)
