Turning Off

I'm off this week. OFF. A great thing to be for a while. Turned off.
A reminder that the world doesn't rely on me. Things still go on without me.
I think this is a little of what the Sabbath teaches us too.

So what did I do while I turned myself off for a week?

Monday: I had 10 friends (+kids) over for a BQQ. Lots of fun, conversation about whatever, all the guys joining me at my sons soccer game for an hour, sitting on my deck just hanging.

Tuesday: brought the kids to a space center and learned about, you guessed it, space. no plans that day, whatever came up. Oh yes, watched the Italy-Germany game - they won with a beautiful goal.

Wednesday: breakfast with close friends, went to a career-fun place for kids (different rooms where kids dressed up as different occupations; batting cage next door, my friend Dave and I hit 20 balls each (it's been years, I didn't do so bad), my wife told me to join a softball league in my community - we'll see.

Thursday: went to parc safari with the kids; nice drive (1 hour+), fun times with my kids; Andrew was old enough for more rides, Julia loved the mini-waterslide; animals were alright: fed some deer.

Today: another whatever day... we'll see what happens (some home stuff)

It's been a good thing turning myself off for a week.
